mortem tyrannis: engines, daemon

Good lord, I've been painting this accidental project for over five years.

Second miniature of 2025: a second Plagueburst Crawler, a Death Guard-unique artillery and battle tank. It was challenging making this different from the other (painted in 2020, apparently - I need to focus better on projects), as the kit is quite detailed and unique, but with limited options to customise.

I gave up on doing anything about the big logo on the cowcatcher. I guess it's just the symbol of the hell forge where these are made. Same with the crack on the left - I guess they all splinter at that point.

But I did texturise a lot of the other panels with a bunch of techniques. Superglue + baking soda, soaked paper towel, texture paints, weird nail art baubles, carving into the plastic - you all know what I mean.

this panel has a lil demon eye

And the panels turned out pretty great. The stripey white technique is something I can do without really thinking about it anymore, after all.

The sponsons and the hull-mounted auxiliary weapon are the only options, so this guy has the rothail volley gun and entropy cannons to contrast with his brother. I also painted his rusty trim a little more grimy and caked rather than the almost clean oranges of the other tank.

Oh, yeah, and I added some sacrificial animals, bound and suffering, to the rails. One is leftovers from an Age of Sigmar kit, but still somehow alive; the other is some kind of weird lizard guy (a head from a Slaanesh Fiend, but not intended to read as a daemon). These were fun to convert and put together, and I'm relatively pleased with how it all looks together. The undead dragon thing came out lighter than I intended but that happens sometimes.

And here are the two siege tanks, side by side. Of course, now that I've done one of each 'kind' of Plagueburst Crawler, I have no intention of doing a third - but Nurgle things should come in threes! What will I do for a third main battle tank..?

Stay tuned. Almost done with this project.
